Ruth Green wins the Skunkfunk Sustainability Award at the tenth ITS#FASHION

On it's tenth Anniversary, International Talent Support has been held in Trieste, on the nights of 15th and 16th July, 2011
20/07/2011. Skunkfunk as a new sponsor for ITS#FASHION assigned the Skunkfunk Sustainability Award to the English designer Ruth Green.
It was easy to fall in love with Ruth Green for Skunkfunk’s project. It is sharp, intelligent and represents most of our basis: atemporality, multifunctionallity, sustainability and tradition.
Her project talks about a cashmere recycling process that although it has being made throughout more than 200 years, still now it is not well established in the fashion industry production processes.
Her designs reflects the action between the garment and the wearer: it is not the garment defining the silhouette but YOU wearing the garment who decides it, thanks to a delicate play of drawstrings that can be free manipulated. She has shown us a way to run away from the clichés of the eco-collections by combining delightful patterns, in a delicate recycled fiber that has been manipulated using an ancient tradition.

Skunkfunk will select the Sustainable Award finalists this week
05/05/2011. The ITS headquarters in the last few days have hosted the jurors who selected the finalists of the four areas that make up the platform of this year’s much-awaited edition. Over 1,200 portfolios, coming from 270 schools and 87 nations flooded the offices of EVE, the agency responsible for the creation and organization of the event. As for the trends we have found, here is a brief sum-up: Symmetry and geometric shapes, as if looking for perfection in uncertain times. The transversal presence in all competitions of the color white, the symbol of purity and innocence, but also of surrender and, therefore, of peaceful intentions. Covered faces and heads, almost hiding to avoid seeing the world outside, a recurring theme in ITS’ ten-year activity. Just like skeletons, this time with a different twist: we have noticed numerous additional backbones to help a body standing as if our own backbone were not strong enough to survive. Among other particularities: projects inspired by nuns. From a symbolic point of view a nun can represent the need to reconsider one's own lifestyle, but they are also a symbol of commitment, of generosity and of sacrifice– and lots of nudity, presented in a very sexual, explicit, sometimes perverse way. Finally, we witnessed several experimentations on spectacles: to see things more clearly, or in a different way, using different lenses. To discover the complete lists of the finalists for the 4 areas please follow this link: http://www.itsweb.org/jsp/en/newsdetail/selectedid_303.jsp
